An exploration of the fine line between female cooperation and competition. Four cheerleaders tumble through the joys and struggles of working together and claiming space as they navigate the complexities of gender stereotypes. Located somewhere between cheer drill, psychedelic karaoke, and collective communion, Casually, Inconspicuously, As If Nothing Happened combines movement and music in way that is raw, playful and vulnerable.

Following sold-out performances at the 2014 Montreal Fringe Festival and a critically acclaimed runs at Pop Montreal (2015) and SummerWorks (2016), choreographer Helen Simard hits Vancouver audiences this summer with NO FUN: an interdisciplinary dance performance inspired by the music and movement of punk icon Iggy Pop.

WARNING: This show contains coarse language, bad attitudes, awkward silences, blinding lights, wailing guitars, underpants, and absolutely NO FUN.

Five artists and performers from Montreal and Glasgow will be offering an open tour of the Monument-National. A unique opportunity to explore this mythical venue in a festive setting where music and performing arts converge in immersive atmospheres! An event developed in collaboration with the //BUZZCUT// Festival team.

Presented as part of the Visite Libre series, co-presented by the Monument-National in collaboration with École nationale de théâtre/National Theatre School - Canada. Designed in collaboration with Nick Anderson, Karl Taylor and Daisy Douglas.
